winery

Crafted from select block from Napa County vineyards, it offer an exceptional portfolio of wines, each highly limited and bearing the distinct signature of its origin. The varietals including Merlot and Petite Sirah are big and juicy, astounding reflection of Napa terroir.

Tasting Notes

Profound wine with smooth and soft tannin. Delectable aromas of black current and bitter sweet dark chocolate, combined with nuances of rose. Intense dark berry flavors on the palate give way to a seamless and silky texture with well-integrated oak for a delicate finish. It’s very Old World-esque, but from the New World because it is higher in alcohol.

Reviews

“It is a beautiful and sexy wine!”

— Andrew Browne, Sommelier at Restaurant Gary Danko, San Francisco

"In the glass, the wine shows medium ruby color moving to a pink meniscus in the rim. Mostly black fruits, including black raspberry and black cherry, are nicely integrated with violet, bay leaf and coffee aromas. It has maturing mouthfeel with a touch of cigar box and cocoa; and yet the black currant, cherry and red plum keeps the bright youthfulness to the wine. Medium alcohol, medium acidity and silky tannin make wine well balanced."

— Andrew Browne, Sommelier at Restaurant Gary Danko, San Francisco

"This wine starts off with a hit of freshly charred oak, leading into fresh pencil shavings and a little dried forest floor. These woodsy aromatics are cut by a very clean bing cherry and slightly underripe strawberry note. With a little more air, some vanilla works in to soften the woodsy aromatics and meld with the soft fruit. There is an appealing heaviness to the nose reminiscent of petrichor. In the mouth there is more of the woodsiness and vanilla leading to the impression of bourbon. This is enhanced by the tannins to leave a long, warm finish. The fruit shines throughout with a fresh cherry and strawberry cleanliness."

— Wesley McBartney, Wine Designer at Winefornia, Napa Valley

"A soft full wine that opens with a slight dusty earthiness above rich cassis and bitter sweet chocolate. Smooth tannins make this wine easy to drink with or without food. It lingers at the end with mint and eucalyptus."

— Zoe Schmitz, Winemaker at Two Mile

Tasting Notes

This complex wine begins with vibrant aromas of red cherry and strawberry followed by a bouquet of cedar, rosemary and green tea completed by earthy elements such as flint and dried shells. As the wine opens up, hints of caramel and sweet vanilla are revealed. Full-bodied, this wine offers up youthful tannins of great quality. A judicious addition of Cabernet Franc heightens the backbone of tannins while enriching the mid palate mouth feel.  The finish lingers with red cherry and strawberry with great length. Tasting Notes

This wine jumps from the glass with an animated nose of flowers, black cherries and ripe plums liberally inflected with aromas of cedar shavings, cigar box, wet river rocks and graphite. It cascades across the palate revealing rich layers of black cherries, cassis and blueberries intermixed with generous hints of black tea and cardamom, leading to a reverberant exit of spiced plums and kola nuts followed by a lengthy mouth coating finish. 1828 Summer breeze

Origin: Napa Valley
Release date: August 1st, 2009
Harvest Dates: September, 2007
Barrel Aging: 85% in French Oak barrel and the balance in Stainless Steel tank
Blend: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol: 14.5%

VINEYARD

The grapes are primarily from the cooler southern precincts of the valley which stretch from the fog-chilled Carneros district to relatively warmer sites just north of the town of Napa. Blending fruit from diverse microclimates and soils allows the wine to display a rich, ripe, elegantly structured Chardonnay that’s delicious on release, but also ages well in bottle. To enhance the wine’s freshness, most of the grapes are picked at night, ensuring pristine condition.

VINTAGE

After the long, cool growing seasons of 2005 and 2006, 2007 brought a change of pace. Winter and spring were unusually dry with above-average temperatures, which accelerated bud break and bloom. Summer was mild, with few hot days, helping our Napa Valley Chardonnay grapes ripen slowly and evenly. Culminating these near-perfect conditions, the 2007 harvest began early and fast-paced, with the fruit harvested during September with a sublime balance of ripe fruit and vibrant acidity.

Tasting Notes

This fuller bodied wine exhibits vibrant citrus blossom, ripe apple, sweet melon and white peach aromas, with subtle butter-cream and toasty oak scents adding complexity. There is a natural bright acidity that provides a structure to the fruit and a greenish hue, and the bouquet is reticent, offering up notes of minerals and citrus oil. This is reminiscent of Chablis, boasting the purity and harmony emblematic of a great white wine. Delightful now, but will age gracefully in bottle for another 3 to 5 years.

The grapes from this winery offer concentrated, lush aroma and rich flavors.

Vintage

The 2009 summer was cool, long and mild. As the vintage moved closer to harvest, daytime temperatures rose into the 90s while at nighttime they dropped dramatically. This see-saw of heat and cold kept sugar levels climbing at a steady pace, while holding acidity levels in the fruit, creating a delicious balance.

Tasting Notes

OneAsia 2009 Syrah is offering tantalizing, vibrant aromas and flavors of Syrah meatiness and a juicy core of black plum, dark chocolate, smoke, white pepper, blackberry, and crème brulee. The mouthfeel is full and liquid-velvet smooth with a finish that lingers on and on. A bold wine like this complements similar concentrated flavors found in dishes such as Syrah-braised short ribs, smoked lamb, roast duck, as well as beef and game. Aged, dry cheeses such as Cheddar, Abbaye De Belloc, and Manchego also pair deliciously. This vintage will offer even more riches with more time in the cellar.
